Ahoj,
jsem už celkem naštvaný na neustálé aktualizace a změny jádra, po kterých se vždy musím bát, že mi něco nepojede, nebo se hrabat v konfiguracích. Na kompilaci modulů jádra pro vmware jsem si už zvykl, ale trápí mě tyhle problémy:
- problém popsaný zde: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/220706 začalo to po přechodu na Hardy, mám desku Asus P5W a systém se snaží nějaké 3 minuty detekovat něco na desce co pokládá za disk (ata8)
- po poslední aktualizaci (jádro 19) mi zmizel ovladač k Nvidii (a následně totálně rozhozené rozlišení), není v seznamu nesvobodných ovladačů, ani netuším jak docílit, aby mi ho systém nabídl, při nabootování do jádra 18 tam ovšem je a efekty pracují tak jak mají...
Je zde někdo, kdo by mi mohl pomoci s řešením, a třeba i vysvětlit, proč se mě někdo snaží odradit od systému, který chci používat na úrovni běžného uživatele? Díky

Tak problém s ovladačem jsem vyřešil, nevím sice přesně v čem to bylo, chystal jsem se použít program Envy, ale instalace mi hlásila problém s jádrem .... zmíněnou verzi jádra jsem přes apt-get install nainstaloval a světe div se, už to jede ... :-)
Ten horší problém s dlouhým bootem bohužel přetrvává :'(

Zkusil bych v BIOSu zakázat všecny nevyužité diskové řadiče. Pokud zmizí hw ze systému tak by je to mohlo přestat hledat. Dále je možnost zkusit aktualizovat BIOS.

Díky, ale teda ten fastboot bych teda nezkoušel, poslední příspěvek v tom vláknu zní docela hrůzostrašně (PC neneebootovalo) a osobně si myslím že kontrola disků není vůbec na škodu, stejně jako pravidelné aktualizace systému.
Tenhle problém je někde jinde, a zřejmě bude v systému, protože je vedený jako "Confirmed", bohužel žádné řešení jsem zatím nenašel a vůbec netuším jestli se tím někdo z vývojářů vůbec bude někdy zabývat.
Rady typu přepni disk z IDE módu do AHCI nebo RAID jsou hezké, jenomže potom nenabootuju vůbec, taky se nejedná o normální harddisk ale o nějaký konfigurační 320kB disk na desce (v syslogu označen jako sdb, nebo taky ata8.0). Zkouše jsem i parametry irqpoll a noprobe=ata8 v grubu (nevím ale jestli jsem to psal dobře někde je zas třeba /dev/sdb=noprobe, zkoušel jsem i to), ale též bez výsledku ...

tak si to odsleduj, vypni si bootsplash aby si videl text pri nabiehani systemu. Pokial ti tam necheckuje disky, tak je problem niekde inde, ak ano mozes to vypnut, teda pokial nemas problem s diskom a nekontroluje ti stale disk koli chybnym blokom. Vtedy by som skusil prikaz fsck. Ale ak to len kontroluje, tak ten fastboot zapni. Ja ho mam zapnuty a s diskom som nezaznamenal problem. Ale ak budes mat problem s diskom, aj cez fastboot ti vypise hlasku. Kazdopadne by som si na tvojom mieste odsledoval, kde sa to pocas bootovania zastavi a na co to caka.

přidám výpis ze syslogu, třeba bude jasněji ... trvá to 2, někdy i 3 minuty :-(

podla vypisu vidim ze ti dam dava chyby na disku sdb. Mas dva disky? Tipujem ze keby si ten jeden disk odpojil, problem by zmizol. ale s cim konkretne mas problem to uz neviem. Nech poradi niekto iny. ale vypisuje ti tam chybu na sektore 0.

No jo, ale ja tady od zacatku rikam, ze to neni disk ale pametovy prostor na desce pro konfiguraci (320kB) co se system snazi osefovat jako disk, a v tom je podle me problem ...
A s tim odpojenim nevim, asi to na desce nebude pro srandu kralikum ;-)

No uvažuju samozřejmě o jiné distribuci, protože tohle je pro mě dlouhodobě nepřijatelné, počkám ještě na 8.10 a pokud se tyhle problémy budou opakovat, jdu od Ubuntu a možná i od Linuxu vůbec.
Zkoušel jsem Fedoru, Suse, Mandrivu, mimo linux OpenSolaris, FreeBSD a další ale přes vmware, čímž samozřejmě tenhle problém neodzkouším.
Jak jsem četl na netu, tak to spíš začalo od určité verze jádra upravená od Ubuntu, kde byla odstraněna podpora čipsetu SiS 5513 (není mi znám důvod). Více k tomu zde:

Je smutné to množství distribucí, upravených jader a to, že na každém distru se HW i SW chová jinak, je to bohužel cesta do pekel, páni v M$ si můžou bez obav mnout ruce a vyrábět klidně paskvily .....

Nebo zkus verzi 7.10. Mám doma dva kompy na kterých jsem 8.04 nerozchodil, ale 7.10 běhá parádně a ještě chvíli podporu mít bude.

Abychom se dozvěděli, co se při startu děje, nainstalujte si bootchart - "sudo apt-get install bootchart", restartujte své pc, a po startu nám sem hoďte obrázek z adresáře /var/log/bootchart :)

Ahoj, mám obrázek bootchart, chtěl jsem jej umístit zde jako přílohu ale dostávám tuhle chybovou hlášku:
Adresář pro ukládání příloh není otevřen pro zápis. Tvá příloha nebo avatar nemohly být uloženy
Dělám něco špatně?????

Podle výstupu z bootchartu je problém zřejmě v hw.. napište sem hardwarovou konfiguraci vašeho pc, ať víme na čem jsme :)

1. asi není kompatibilní ACPI.
2. co je připojeno na ata8? podle výpisu čeká na nějaké zařízení, ale nevím na jaké. Měl jsem podobný problém na jednom počítači, že hledal disketovou mechaniku, která tam nebyla a taky to protahovalo boot. stačilo ji smazat z fstab.
3. sdb disk? není to cd-rom? nemůže z něj číst.
jak máš nastaveno v BIOSu bootování? zkus ho seřadit: 1. HDD 2. CD-ROM 3. disketa
zkus sem ještě přidat výpis

tak tady je ten fstab, myslim ze z nej ale nic zajimaveho nevyctes, vypada to normalne, sdb je nejake zarizeni na desce (konfiguracni prostor 320kB), problem je asi v tom, ze do urcite verze jadra tam byla podpora (cipset Sis 5513), pak to bylo specielne pro ubuntu zakazano, duvod nevim (viz http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=586894&page=4), porad doufam, ze mi to tu nekdo vysvetli ... ;)

tak jsem konečně po dlouhé době nalezl řešení problému: po nastavení disku do nativního AHCI SATA módu se problém přestal projevovat - systém si tedy nerozumněl s režimem emulace IDE. Proč toto fungovalo v dřívějších verzích jádra, po tom už asi pátrat nebudu ...
