Zdravim všechny a prosím o pomoc,
S linuxem teprve začínám tak se předem omlouvám za mé možna tupé dotazy.
Používám Ubuntu 9.10 a ovladače k nvidia grafice verze 173.
Včera vše fungovalo v pohodě, ale když jsem dneska pustil počítač, tak je zozlišení pouze 640x480. Systém nenapsal žádnou chybu, ani varování prostě nic.
Po marném snažení najit nějakou radu doufám v poslední záchranu tady na fóru.

Také jsem nějakou dobu zápasil s tímto jevem, na který má vliv nevhodný kabel mezi PC a monitorem. Instalace se vždy povedla a po restartu bylo malé rozlišení. Čili první možnost zkusit jiný kabel, pozor na redukce vga-dvi a podobně. To byl můj případ.

Omezené rozlišení se vyskytlo až po třech týdnech, do dneška vše fungovalo jak mělo.
Monitor mám Aoc 9k+ (postarší CRT :) ) VGA kabel je v monitoru bohužel napevno, takže výměna kabelu moc nepřipadá v úvahu a redukci nepoužívám.
Ještě jsem zkoušel vypnou ruzne žrouty grafiky (compiz a spol) ale bez efektu.

Takže zbývá jedině laborovat se souborem xorg.conf. Leží v adresáři /etc/X11 a má několik forem - originál a zálohy. Někdy se daří prohlédnout obsah aktuálního (bude nápadně kratší) a vymazat, náhradu provést přejmenováním bývalé verze ze záloh (xorg.cong.backup) a restartovat.

Se souborem xorg.conf už jsem laboroval, ale taky nic.

Tak to je ten "hubenej". Zkusme reinstal xorgu:
sudo nvidia-xconfig

Bohužel je to bez efektu, pouze se generují další soubory xorg.conf_xconfig.20100201190612 a podobně. Všechny mají shodně 251B a obsahují to stejné jak jsem posílal dřív.
Hlavně nevím proč se to rozlišení najednou omezilo max na 640x480. Kdybych něco udělal a podelala se grafika, tak to pochopím a snažím se ten můj zásah nějak opravit, ale když se to rozhodí bez mého přičinění, tak ani nevím kde mám začít hledat nebo co opravovat >:(

A co tohle ?
sudo nvidia-settingsa když to nikam nepovede, zkusíme z nabídky nahoře - Systém- správa - hardware drivers ... jestli nabídne tabulku.

nvidia-settings spustí NVIDIA X Server setting, jenže tam jde vybrat mezi rozlišením 640x480 a 320x240, už jsem to parkrát prošel a nic jsem tam nenašel.
Ještě jsem zkoušl přepnout monitor z 24bit na 16bit, ale vyhodí to tohle když chci změny uložit

V ovladačích Hardware je výběr ze dvou

Jak jsem psal hned v dotazu tak používám ten první. Ovladače už jsem taky zkoušel přehodit na ten 96, ale bylo to bez efektu.
Jediné co jsem vygooglil, tak v xorg.conf přepsat driver z "nvidia" na "nv" to mělo ten efekt že po rebootu bylo max rozlišení 800x600, ale po dalším restartu bylo opět na 640x480.

wokna běží normálně 1280x1024 takže kartou ani monitorem to nebude
