Ano,několikrát omílané téma, ale mně to prostě nejde.
Prošel jsem všechny návody co tu jsou a na wiki.ubuntu.cz, ale při pokusu o provedení toho co je na http://wiki.ubuntu.cz/Grafick%C3%A9_karty_NVIDIA mi nenastartuje grafické rozhraní, musím obnovit soubor xorg.conf, navíc při zadání glxinfo | grep direct mi vyjede toto:

Asi následek toho, jak jsem tam zkoušel dost věcí, potřeboval bych poradit, jak se toho zbavit, aby se vypisovalo alespoň to, že direct rendering: No, protože jsem našel něco o tom, že pokud nenabíhá X server, tak se musí do souboru /etc/modules.conf zapsat alias char-major-195 nvidia aby to naběhlo, což jsem jednou udělal a při restartu KDE se to (jednou) podařilo.
Zkoušel jsem návod co byl zde - http://www.abclinuxu.cz/clanky/hardware/graficke-karty-nvidia, ale instalace skončila chybou, můžu sem kdyžtak hodit error log....
Zkrátka bych nějak potřeboval provést návrat na defaultní nastavení (ano, můžu to udělat přes reinstalaci, to není až tak problém) a pak nějakou funkční cestu jak to zprovoznit.

To nepomáhá, reinstaloval jsem systém, postupoval jsem dle návodu, co je zde http://wiki.ubuntu.cz/Grafick%C3%A9_karty_NVIDIA, tedy:
Příkazy byly
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx
sudo nvidia-xconfig
přičemž jsem měl nastavené zdroje

A došlo k tomu, že při restartu se nezobrazilo opět grafické okno, musel jsem přepsat v xconf.org "nvidia" na "nv" a po
glxinfo | grep direct mi to zase vypisuje podobný výpis, jako je v původním příspěvku.
Pro pořádek - mám Kubuntu 6.10

Prikaz, ktery jsem psal, obnovuje puvodni nastaveni xorg.conf (pripadne staci prekopirovat zazalohovany soubor do adresare /etc/X11).
Mate nesmyslne nastavene repozitare, mate povolene jen bezpecnostni opravy (repozitar edgy-security). Ovladac se nachazi v repozitari multiverse, pro stare typy karet (jako je Riva TNT2) je urceny ovladac nvidia-glx-legacy.

Takže to mám provést následovně? (dle manuálu co máte v podpisu)
sudo apt-get install linux-generic //Proč se instaluje linux-generic? Ten přeci je v instalaci systému
sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx-legacy
sudo nvidia-xconfig
Ptám se proto, že se mi nechce potřetí instalovat systém.

Tak jsem provedl předcházející příkazy, musel jsem ručně upravit xorg.conf (nv na nvidia a zakomentovat load dri), při startu se zobrazí už i okno Nvidia, ale příkazem glxinfo | grep direct vyjede asi padesát řádků "Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0"." a mezi nimi jeden "Error: couldn't find RGB GLX visual".
Když se pokusím o
"glxgears -printfps" tak to vypíše toto a končí:
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".

Mate nejspis stejny problem jako Ing.Roubatko v tomto vlakne (http://forum.ubuntu.cz/viewtopic.php?id=5073). V jeho pripade pomohlo pouziti modulu nvagp, viz. tento prispevek (http://forum.ubuntu.cz/viewtopic.php?pid=36403#p36403).

No mně ani nvagp nepomohlo, možná to je tím, že to je grafická karta v sedm možná osm let starým počítači, až si v září koupím notebook, tak tam to snad bude lepší, do té doby budu hrát Wolf: Enemy Territory přes Windows.... :(

Ale jinak Ubuntu mne pěkně překvapilo s těmi balíčky, sháněl jsem slovník, našel jsem StarDict, samo se nainstaluje jedním příkazem, má to skvělý funkce a je zadarmo, oproti stejně funkčním Windows řešením.

No a proč nezkusit instalovat ovladač vhodnější pro starší typy karek.

To jsem zkoušel, ale zkusím to klidně ještě jednou.
Co všechno musím udělat, aby to aktuálních ovladačích nvidia nezbyla ani stopa?
Mám zálohovaný xorg.conf než jsem prováděl první instalaci grafiky. Každopádně ho můžu rekonfigurovat tímto, že?
sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
Ale pak myslím zbude ještě něco, tak jak na to?

No tak jsem provedl návrat na původní nastavení, po nainstalování nvidia-glx-legacy a úpravě xorg.conf (přidával jsem i ten modul nvgap) mi po glxinfo grep direct vyjede toto:

Jo, ještě jedna věc, řádek 154 v xorg.conf neexistuje... tak který soubor to může upravovat?

v tom vypisu se nepise o zadnem radku cislo 154, ani o souboru xorg.conf

Jo to jsem si už taky všiml, ale nevím jaký soubor to upravuje, protože device 154 se v xorg.conf nevyskytuje.

Tak zkusme ještě toto:
1. Odinstalovat nvidia-glx-"comám" včetně konfiguráků.
2. sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop
3. sudo rm /etc/init.d/nvidia-*
4. sudo rm /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx*
5. sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx-legacy
6. sudo rm -rf /tmp
7. sudo reboot

Důležité je mít v záloze alespoň jakž takž funkční xorg.conf s mesa ovladačem. Tedy driver "nv" místo "nvidia". Tím zajistíme funkčnost GUI a pak uvidíme co dál, pokud ovšem budeme vědět jak, na základě výpisu z xorg.0.log

Nic nepomáhá, nainstaloval jsem ještě nvidia-settings, ale tam se nedá dělat nic, ani po provedení celé instalace grafických ovladačů to není jiný než předtím, tj. výpis chyb.

Myslíte, že by pomohlo zkusit to na Ubuntu 6.10, bude nějaký rozdíl?

Já sleduji tuhle diskusi sice z povzdálí, ale mám úplně stejnou grafickou kartu jako Kačer, vyzkoušel jsem všechny zde uvedené postupy a mám stále úplně stejný problém.
Jenže na Kubuntu Edgy Eft.
V Ubuntu Dapperovi bylo vše v pořádku. Už si myslím, že to je asi touto konkrétní grafickou kartou.
Nebo ji někdo máte a 3D jste na *buntu 6.10 rozběhali?

Já s tím opravdu mimo toho, že ET musím hrát přes Windows problém nemám, jinak hry nehraju a předpokládám, že to práci v systému nezrychlí, nebo ano?

Pokud ano, tak to bylo minimálně znatelné. Jen mi fungoval třeba GoogleEarth a další, na grafický výkon náročnější aplikace, ale nic, proč bych nemohl Kubuntu spokojeně užívat.
Já také hry nehraji, ale nejvíc mne štve, že nefunguje něco, co by fungovat jednoduše mělo. Jinak jsem zatím vždy všechno vychytal a doladil.

Udělal jsem to tam podle té první metody, všechno už bylo nainstalovaný, jen jsem přidal ty řádky do nově vytvořeného souboru, ALE:
sudo nvidia-xconfig --no-composite
tento příkaz nešel provést, napíše mi to
Invalid commandline, please run `nvidia-xconfig --help` for usage information.
A má to nadpis "povolení driveru v xconfig", takže to asi bude docela potřeba.

Postupně jsem také zkoušel všechno podle všech možných rad a přestože mám v device "nvidia", 3D nefunguje. Napadlo mne, zda nemůže být problém ještě v tomhle - když zadám příkaz "pcimodules", tak mi to vypíše toto:

Tak jsem si ověřil, že problém bude někde v nějaké konfiguraci něčeho (z tohoto přesného popisu je zřejmé, že jsem skutečný odborník), čím se liší Ubuntu 6.10 od Kubuntu 6.10. Vyzkoušel jsem totiž reinstal a hned první návod od L.Svobody na NVIDIA drivery v Ubuntu 6.10 mi 3D grafiku rozchodil. Tentýž postup (ani žádné jiné) v Kubuntu 6.10 nezabraly :(
Takže nyní dilema - buď 3D v mnou neoblíbeném Ubuntu nebo mnou oblíbené Kubuntu, ale bez grafické akcelerace.
A teď babo raď. Nebo kdokoli jiný :) ... je vlastně ještě jedna varianta - pořídit si novější grafickou kartu, ale zaručí mi někdo kladný výsledek? Asi ne, protože, jak jsem pochopil, stejnou NVIDIA grafiku jako já a Kačer tu mnozí mají a graf. akcelerace jim funguje. I když možná jen v Ubuntu 6.10.
Nebo je tu někdo, kdo má tutéž grafickou kartu - nVidia Corporation NV5M64 [RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro] (rev 15) a 3D grafika mu funguje i v Kubuntu 6.10?
Díky za odpovědi, s radami už moc nepočítám. Ale pokud ano, bude to pro mne důvod to ještě nevzdávat a zkoušet další možnosti, jak to rozchodit.

Tak to je rachot. Tenhle víkend jsem dělal kámošoj tu samou kartu v Kubuntu 6.10. Ještě dnes jsem na tom dělal, ale akcelerace opravdu nejde!Prolezl jsem tu fórum, odkazy na netu a nic.
Takže jaká že hodná babička to osvětlí? :)

Mel sem stejny problem, nainstalovane -legancy drivery, glxgears ani nenabehl, reseni sem nasel tady - http://wiki.java.net/bin/view/Javadesktop/Installation (prvni odkaz v Google na dotaz "GLX is not supported with the Composite extension" - hlaska z logu /var/log/xorg.0.log). Po delší době se vracím k nefunkční 3D akceleraci s NVIDIA graf. kartou NVIDIA RIVA TNT2: po dnešní aktualizaci ovladačů nvidia-legacy a přidání řádku
Option "AllowGLXWithComposite" "true"
do xorg.conf - viz výše, vše KONEČNĚ funguje, jak má - takže vy, co jste měli s touto grafickou kartou stejný problém a již jste to vzdali, tak tento postup po aktualizaci nvidia-legacy vyzkoušejte!
Problém začal v Edgym a ve Fiestech(-ách)? pokračoval, ale nyní již vše O.K. :)
