Po několika pokusech se mi nakonec podařilo napůl zprovoznit výše uvedený skener, ale pouze, pokud jako root skenuji pomocí iscan. Jako běžný uživatel mi iscan ani xsane skener nenajde. Nainstaloval jsem sane 1.0.14, iscan 2.3.0-2, iscan-plugin-gt-s600 pro podporu tohoto skeneru. Jen nevím, kde soudruzi z NDR udělali chybu, že jako uživatel si ani neškrtnu... Prosím o radu jako pro LAMU, krok po kroku, odpovím reakcemi mého PC pro další nešťastníky...
V minulosti mi scaner v pohodě chodil v Kubuntu 8.4., nyní provozuji Ubuntu 8.10.
V terminállu mi na příkaz iscan odpoví hláška:
"Could not send command to scanner. Check the scanner's status."
Na sudo iscan se program i skenování rozběhne.
Příkaz sudo-find-scanner:
# sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
# result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
# scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.
# No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
# you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.

Příkaz scanimage -L:
No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
