Problém s GRUBem - hláška "GRUB Loading, please wait...." [vyřešeno]

Po instalaci Ubuntu na notebook se mi po spuštění objeví:

GRUB Loading stage1.5

GRUB Loading, please wait....

a čekám a čekám a nic se neděje. Na notebooku je WinXP a Ubuntu, který jsem instaloval místo OpenSUSE.

Takže nemůžu spustit ani Ubuntu ani XP.

Disk mám rozdělený na 3 primární oddíly (NTFS, EXT3 a SWAP).
Instalace proběhla až do konce bez problémů.

Když nabootuju z livka, tak
find /boot/grub/stage1
píše: (hd0,1)

fdisk -l píše:
/dev/hda1     1              54108       27270337     7       HPFS/NTFS
Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary

Žádný ze zde uváděných postupů na opravu zavaděče GRUB mi nepomohl.

Nabootujte z livka, přimountujte linuxovou partititon a pošlete výpis /boot/grub/menu.lst

Trochu jsem googlil na téma http://www.google.cz/search?hl=cs&q=GRUB+Loading%2C+please+wait&btnG=Vyhledat+Googlem&lr= ale ani jedno z řešení mi nepomohlo, nakonec jsem provedl zálohy všech dat na DVD ze SLAXu spuštěného z USB klíčenky, zformátoval disk pomocí Partition Logic (dokonce ani Partition Magic se nechytal) a znovu provedl čistou instalaci XP a následně Ubuntu.
