Skype - video v Ubuntu 8.10 [vyřešeno]

Zdar. Sorry, že se ptám tak blbě, ale jak zjistím, jestli mi jde webkamera v 8.10? Chci používat skype-video, ale neaří se mi zprovoznit to video. Už se slyšíme :-), ale pořád žádný obraz.
Takže jsem chtěl odzkoušet aspon tu kameru, jestli fachčí pod 8.10....

Na tento program je třeba Gnome 2.28, ale já mám v ubuntu 8.10 jen 2.24. Mohu ho bezpečně aktualizovat? Nebo se to aktualizuje samo a pokud to ještě není, tak zkrátka není tato aktualizace pro Ub.8.10 uvolněna a tedy nemohu tento program použít?

aha? díky. Ještě nejsem pořádně zvyklý na ten systém balíků....

Takže jsem to nainstaloval ten Cheese a kamera mi v tom nefunguje. V terminálu jsem zjistil(příkazem dmesg), že se USB zařízení našlo. Přesně to vypsalo toto:

 Ale v Cheese to nefunguje. Cheese je ve verzi 2.42.2

Ve FAQ pro cheese jsem se dočetl, že:
Cheese uses gstreamer for video grabbing. So in principle Cheese supports
      any camera that works with GStreamer. In principle that should be any camera
      which support video4linux or video4linux2.

Když otevřu GStreamer(Aplikace -> Zvuk a video -> přehrávač filmů(GStreamer), tak v něm tu kameru také nenaleznu.
Kamera je to obyčejná. Z Ebaye(taková co má těch 8LED kolem čočky k přisvícení scény). Typ ani značku neznám....
Nevím tedy, jestli podporuje video4linux/2.
Jak to mohu zjistit?, nebo jak ji mohu zprovoznit pod Linux? Je třeba nějakých spec. ovládačů?

ehm. moc nerozumím tvé odpovědi. Ten první link vede k tomu, k čemu je příkaz sudo(atp.). Ale já nemám tušení, kdy ho mohu použít.
Je to snad v tom třetím příkazu, který se mi nezdařil?

aha? tak zdá se, že pomoci toho příkazu "sudo" se ten problém vyřešil. Ted už mohu restartovat, odpojovat kameru z usb jak chci, ale po zapnutí vždy funguje. Děkuji všem za pomoc
