Bílá obrazovka s Nvidia 8500 GT

Dobrý večer,
mám problém s Ubuntu 8.04 a grafickou kartou Nvidia 8500 GT. Po úspěšném nainstalování Ubuntu jsem se jej snažila spustit, ale místo přihlašovací obrazovky mám jen bílou s trochu tmavším rámečkem na heslo. Jinak není nic vidět. Po zalogování poslepu vidím jen prázdnou plochu. Zkoušela jsem stáhnout ovladače z Nvidie (NVIDIA-Linux-x86-180.22), přepnula se do konzole, vypnula Xka a zkusila je nainstalovat. Skončilo to errorem "You do not appear to have libc header files installed on your system. Please install your distribution´s libc development package".
Taky jsem zkusila příkaz sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg, ale nepomohlo.

Když si v xorg.conf přidáš do sekce device toto

měla by to naběhnout bez problémů s vesa ovladačem a můžeš zkusit jinej ovladač nebo jestli bílá obrazovka nemůže být tím, že je zaplý Compiz, ale to dělá co vím po přihlášení a ne v GDM.

To je ohledne te bile obrazovky, neco podobneho jsem videl i u 8600GS a tam byl problem Compiz Fusion..

Možná by se hodil výpis /var/log/Xorg.0.log po neúspěšném pokusu o start;) Zas tak moc do toho nevidím, ale třeba z toho půjde něco vyčíst;)

EDIT: A co xorg po instalaci nvidia driveru? Byl by?:)

Tak jsem nejdriv doplnila ovladac vesa. Naskocilo mi to jenom v 800x600, tak jsem zkusila ovladace ze "spravce nesvobodnych ovladacu". Po rebootu jsem videla jen par barev na cernem pozadi, ktere dohromady davaly neco jako logovaci obrazovku. Zkusila jsem tedy envy, ale to jsem se dostala jen k hlasce "Ubuntu bezi v nizkem grafickem rezimu"

Pokud nabootujes aspon do toho rozliseni 800x600 tak tam zkus zrusit Compiz, treba to pomuze. Taky odinstaluj kompletne vsechno od nVidie a po restartu(nizke rozliseni by melo zustat) zkus nainstalovat balik nvidia-glx-new a nvidia-settings...

Zrušit Compiz tak, že vypnu v nastavení všechny efekty nebo vypnout nějak "hlouběji"?

Muzu se zeptat proc davate(zrejme v terminalu) prikaz nvidia-xconfig??
Takze znova, odinstalujte vsechno od nVidia, ujistete, ze mate vypnuty Compiz, jak radil kolega a restartujte.
Po restartu v nizkem rozliseni zkuste nainstalovat pouze balik nvidia-glx-new, ten ovladac je
169.12.. http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/restricted/l/linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24/nvidia-glx-new_169.12+2.6.24.16-23.56_i386.deb
da se stahnout primo .deb balik a nainstalovat normalne, bez Synapticu.
Pote dalsi restart a uvidite co to udela. Pokud to nabehne, muzete nainstalovat i balik nvidia-settings, melo by to fungovat....
Taky bych si zkusil omrknout xorg.conf v live cd a pote v samotnem systemu...

Popsaný postup nezabral. Zkoušela jsem live cd Fedora 10 a OpenSUSE 11.1 - obě distribuce mi zobrazily nějakou obdobu "bílé obrazovky" Ubuntu - Tzn. např. sice bílá obrazovka, ale ne úplně čistě - byl tam navíc obdélník. Jinak jsem zkusila live Knoppix 5.1.1, který najel do 1024x800. Pak jsem zkusila nainstalovat Debian Lenny, který taky najel do bílé obrazovky. Nainstalovala jsem tedy poslední verzi ovladače od nVidia (180.22), což nepomohlo - při pokusu nahodit xka obrazovka zčerná, nic se neděje a při následném pokusu přepnout se do konzole monitor "usne".
