Zdravím,
chtěl bych se zeptat, jaká je šance zprovoznění v titulku uvedeného TV tuneru. Jedná se o vestavěný tuner v notebooku Toshiba Qosmio G 30. Na internetu jsem zatím nic, co by mi jakkoliv pomohlo nenašel.

Když spustím TV Time Television Viewer, tak se objeví pouze modré okno s informacemi: "Bez zdroje videa", "Bez signálu" a "No such file or directory - Nelze otevřít zachytávací zařízení dev/video0.

V konfiguraci vstupu nelze změnit zdroj videa, zkoušel jsem tedy alespoň měnit televizní standard, ale bez výsledku.

Ve Windows XP MCE zařízení pracuje správně. Problém je, že W XP MCE (v dualbootu s Ubuntu 7.04), mi ode dneška z neznámé příčiny nejdou vůbec spustit, což mě alespoň dokopalo k pokusu zprovoznit TV Tuner v Unbuntu.

Mám ale vůbec šanci?

:-) A že vás ještě přerušuju...
Vypadá to tedy, že nikdo netuší, jak problém rozlousknout, napadlo mě ale, jestli tedy není možno někam ohlásit nefunkčnost tohoto HW (vývojářům Ubuntu?).

Rád toto ohlášení zašlu, pokud to má smysl, jen bych tedy prosil o radu komu, kam a jaké informace by bylo dobré uvést, aby ta zpráva měla pro případné řešitele nějaký smysl.

Myslím, že není kam to poslat...
Vývojáři Ubuntu s tím "nemají co do činění", vývojáři jádra se tomuto vesměs nevěnují...
Tyhle ovladače většinou dělají "nějací blázni doma"
A v současné době je chybějících ovladačů bohužel pořád dost, obzvlášť, když skoro nikdo nevydává specifikace (nevím teda jak Toshiba)

Děkuji, ač je to nepotěšující. Zkusím se ještě poptat na mezinárodním fóru uživatelů Toshiby, i když už začínám být smířen s tím, že to prostě nepojede. Škoda, domníval jsem se, že to alespoň někam ohlásit jde. Ale je mi jasné, že chybějících ovladačů je hromada a důležitějších.

K (možnému) řešení problému s TV kartou je potřeba nejdřív znát alespoň model jejího chipsetu. Postněte sem prosím výpis příkazů lspci a dmesg, ať zhruba víme na čem jsme (tedy jste).

Ajaj, tak to mám pro vás asi špatnou zprávu.

Vaše televizní karta využívá podle všeho novější chip CX23418, který se zatím v linuxu nedočkal svého ovladače. Bohužel.

Nepříjemné překvapení tak čekalo například na ty, kdo si objednali kartu hauppauge PVR-150 (podporovanou) a v krabici od ní jim přišla Hauppauge HVR-1600, využívající právě tento chip. Firma prostě neměla na skladě dost těch starých, a tak přesně podle hesla „Zákazník musí dostat co chce, i kdybychom mu měli dát něco úplně jiného“ našoupala do obalů od PVR-150 HVR-1600. No, nakonec to díky linuxářům mezi zákazníky prasklo a firma jim obratem poslala správný typ, který někde ješte vyhrabala .

To vám ale asi příliš nepomůže...

Zatím nezbývá než čekat a čekat, na ovladači se (prý) už pracuje.

Velmi však děkuji za informace, jen bych se rád ještě zeptal, jak zjistím, zda je tento čip v linuxu již podporován? Pominu-li tedy občasné prohledávání googlem, zda se něco nezměnilo... Je to záležitost kernelu, tedy když proběhne nějaká jeho aktualizace, je možné, že v rámci ní se může objevit i tento ovladač, nebo bude (pravděpodobně) nutné sehnat a doinstalovat ovladač jinou cestou?

Je to záležitost jaderného modulu (takže kernelu), ale s aktualizacemi se k vám určitě nedostane – ty po oficiálním vydání určité verze opravují hlavně závažné bezpečnostní chyby a různé "záseky". Pokud ovladač někdo včas napíše, mohl by se objevit na podzim v dalším vydání Ubuntu (7.10 – Gutsy Gibbon), jinak zase až za půl roku. Samozřejmě zůstává možnost jej ručně zkompilovat (až se objeví) oproti knihovnám verze stávající, jistě se k tomu vznikne nějaké how-to.

Občas se mrkněte na http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_HVR-1600, tam se řeší karta se stejný chipsetem, jako máte vy. Nejlepší by samozřejmě bylo zjistit, kdo (a jestli) na tom už dělá a přihlásit se k odběru novinek např. pomocí mailové konference.
