Wifi pripojenie

Zdravím všetkých,
Som uplny Linuxovy začiatočnik. Momentalne mam nainšt. Win7 a aj Ubuntu 9.10 no časom chcem Win vyhodit uplne. V Ubuntu 9.10 mi všetko ide OK až na wifi pripojenie (momentalne som pripojeny cez kabel). Wifi sieť mi nájde no nepripojí sa k nej (WICD ktorý som si nainštaloval sa vždy dostane po "získavanie IP adresy" no to je všetko - nepripojí sa). Samozrejme že pred tým ako som sa sem  rozhodol napísať  som skúšal rôzne návody ktoré sú na fóre napísané no bezvýsledne. (acpi =off , preinšt. som networkmanager, nainštal. WICD )
Vedel by mi niekto prosím poradiť ako začiatočníkovi ako by som mohol tento probl. odstarniť ?

Jsem laik, ale 3x mi pomohl tento postup (Ubuntu 8.04):

Instalovat systém s připojeným počítačem kabelem.
Během instalace (nebo po restartu) se automaticky stáhl ovladač a rozsvítila se kontrolka a spustila se wifi.
Po prvním restartu trvalo cca 3 min, než se vše připojilo.

Nyní se to připojuje už rok automaticky...
