Špatně detekovaný Matrox v KDE/Kubuntu ?

Ahoj,
myslel jsem že to najdu někde sám, ale nepomohlo.
Zdálo se mi, že grafika nějak nestíhá, trhá se mi DVD atd... a pak jsem zjistil, že v xorg.conf se mi sice detekoval Matrox G550, ale je tam k němu jen driver vesa. Tak jsem se tam snažil nanutit přes system config/display ten driver mga, jenže výsledek je vždycky ten, že mi monitor před přihlášením do X hlásí - 30kHz 28Hz out of range, please switch to 1280x1024/60Hz (což jsem taky udělal a furt nic...). A monitor je černej a vypne se... mám LCD Fujitsu SIemens P19-2 připojený přes DVI. Kubuntu 6.06.

Za prvné, pokud přiložený výpis má být po změně ovladače, patrně se moc nepovedla - máš tam pořád VESA ovladač. Nejlepší bude vygenerovat nový xorg.conf pomocí dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg a nastavit v průvodci nějakou rozumnou frekvenci a rozlišení. Pokud to nepomůže, vygenerovat si modeline "na míru" pomocí některého z návodů na internetu.

to není po změně ovladače, to je po nové čisté instalaci na prázdný disk...

Tohle funguje, ale když pak přepíšu "vesa" na "mga" tak zase nic... stejný výsledek jako předtím, monitor protestuje.
Napadlo mě, patří tam skutečně PCI:1:0:0 když je to AGP ?

na generování modeline se mi nejlépe osvědčil Universal Modeline Calculator http://umc.sourceforge.net/
(hlavně vyšší frekvence - viz níže - 1600x1200 při 101Hz :-))
Pro1280x1024 při 60 Hz to dává

Ahoj,
tak jsem si zase po dlouhé době řekl, že to zkusím ještě nějak rozjet. Po několika desítkách prosurfovaných stránek jsem bohužel dospěl k závěru, že na vině je Xorg verze 7.*, který ze záhadného důvodu už nepodporuje Matrox G550 a starší. Takže nějaká úprava Xorg.conf je celkem k ničemu.
Jak z toho ven opravdu netuším. Jedině provést nějak "downgrade" - buď xorg na nižší verzi nebo Dappera na tu předchozí. Ale na to se už fakt necítím.

mě to na dapperovi jede bez problémů s výše uvedeným konf. souborem (crt monitor).
Jediné, co mě ještě napadá - máte nainstalovn ovladač pro mga - balík xserver-xorg-driver-mga?

Díky za snahu,
xserver-xorg-driver-mga nainstalovaný mám, při pokusu o instalaci mi to hlásí, že je již nainstalována novější verze.
Zjistil jsem jednu zásadní věc (naštěstí mám doma ještě jeden monitor CRT u druhého PC). A to, že CRT monitor mi s ovladačem mga funguje normálně. Ale to je připojený do konektoru D-SUB VGA, takže je to pro Matroxe monitor č. 1.
LCD panel mám připojený přes DVI, tj. jako monitor č.2. Takže problém není ani tak v tom ovladači, ale spíš s podporou dual head pro Matroxe v Xkách. Mělo by se to jmenovat HAL nebo tak nějak. Takže další pátrání zaměřím tímhle směrem.
